Delphi Fly Fishing School is based on the vast and stunning Delphi Estate. Located in a wild and unspoilt valley of extraordinary beauty, the 1000-acre estate is one of Ireland’s hidden treasures. The historic lodge, famous as a holiday hideaway, is surrounded by the tallest mountains in Connemara and overlooks the lakes and rivers of the Delphi valley famous for their salmon and sea trout fishing.
Fly fishermen have been coming to Delphi for centuries, first built as the sporting playground of the Marquis of Sligo. Now, it is particularly noted for its excellent runs of Atlantic salmon.
There is also the added attraction of staying at the magnificent Delphi Lodge, a beautiful Georgian country house with a glorious lakeside setting, fine cuisine and great atmosphere.
Between your courses, enjoy hill walking, walk to the Delphi Silver, or visit the nearby village of Leenaun and Killary Harbour (An Caoláire Rua); one of three examples of glacial fjords found in Ireland. The towns of Louisburgh and Westport are both a short and scenic drive away.
Our Head Instructor and a resident guide at Delphi Lodge, Teddy Coulter has over 20 years fly fishing experience honing his craft all over the world while continually developing his own skills and teaching abilities. He has been guiding on the rivers and lakes of Connemara for the past 7 years, and has developed a vast knowledge and understanding of, and passion for, the fish and fisheries on this remote part of Ireland’s west coast.
